Phd Positions open at Presidency University, Kolkata, India
The Multitrophic Interactions and Biocontrol Research Lab, Presidency, Dept. of Life Sciences, University, Kolkata, India is primarily interested in studying the ecology and control of invasive plants and weeds using insects and plant-pathogenic fungi. We are looking for a candidate with CSIR NET/ UGC JRF, interested in our research, especially in helping us develop mycoherbicides from fungi and their metabolites. So, it will be great to have a motivated biochemist, biotechnologist or microbiologist join our team. The work will also include field ecology associated with aquatic ecosystems, so be prepared for it if you wish to apply.

Project 2
ILORA database version 2.0
While addressing key environmental challenges, access to high-quality data helps us make informed decisions and drive timely and targeted interventions. The Indian Alien Flora Information (ILORA) database provides free and open-access data of multiple ecological and socio-economic variables that may drive the invasion of alien plant species in India. ILORA version 1.0 has been updated multiple times since its conception in 2021, and now we are in the process of making version 2.0 with new variables and updated information.
We invite applications for the role of a Research associate in biology to contribute to the above-mentioned project.

Project 1
Understanding the adaptation of Ageratina adenophora
Ageratina adenophora is primarily found in the subtropical to temperate mountains across the Indian subcontinent. This pan-India project invites researchers and academicians to share local data and seed material to better understand the biology of this species. The goals of this project are: 1) map the current distribution of Ageratina adenophora, 2) conduct population genetic analysis, and 3) perform common garden experiments related to adaptation and phenotypic plasticity across diverse environments in India.
